Christmas comes early for a Men’s Shed

Christmas will come early for members of the Men’s Shed at Spring Hill with the news that their application for an Australian Government Department of Health National Shed Development Programme grant has been successful.

According to Shed President Rob Collins, the $5,000 grant will be used for the purchase of power tools and equipment to complement and replace currently used stock in woodworking activities.

The new items to be purchased include a ‘SawStop’ Contractor table saw with with 36" T-Glide Rail, brake cartridge and blade, a 2-speed band saw and a 2HP dust collector with flexible ducting hoses.

Rob Collins added: “We are pleased that our application met the grant criteria requirements with priority from a health perspective. This investment in expanding our range of tools inventory will add value to a healthy and safe work environment”.

”Having a full range of equipment will enable us to attract and retain shed members who can then be engaged in meaningful activity for overall benefit, enjoyment, education, training and enhancement of skills”.
