Movember – Be a good Mo Bro

Issue 5 | October 2025

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one. (Marcus Aurelius)

Traditionally, blokes have had poor help-seeking behaviours—not going to a GP and ignoring mental wellness and relationships. Movember turns that around with guys growing facial hair to facilitate conversations about staying well and happy. Having prostate and testicular checks, talking about mental health and suicide, and getting in physical shape can be the new better. Knowledge is power, prevention is critical, and early detection is essential.

To be a quality Mo Bro, consider these steps for yourself, and encourage other Shedders:

  • Have a full check-up with your GP

  • Monitor your weight and waistline

  • Know your family health history

  • Spend time with your family

  • Maintain a balanced, healthy diet

  • Move regularly and wear sunscreen

  • Nurture your relationships

  • Chill, manage stress, connect with nature

  • Minimise alcohol and don’t smoke

  • Sleep well and meditate often

  • Stay attached to quality friends

  • Share your difficulties and emotions

  • Ensure you smile and laugh often, and

  • Most importantly, keep connected with your Shed mates!
