$1.89 million upgrade planned for Oxenford Men’s Shed
The Oxenford Men’s Shed is set for a major transformation, with a $1.89 million redevelopment planned to deliver a modern, purpose-built facility for its growing membership and future community needs.
The project will replace the current ageing shed with a new, state-of-the-art building, along with improved access, parking, and surrounding infrastructure. Once complete, it’s expected to significantly enhance the Shed experience and provide a template for future Men’s Shed facilities across the region.
Funding for the project is being delivered through a joint investment between the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast.
The upgrade reflects strong ongoing support for Men’s Sheds and the important role they play in creating safe, welcoming spaces where men can connect, share skills, and support their local communities.
The Oxenford Men’s Shed currently supports around 120 members and offers a wide range of activities, including woodworking, skill-sharing, and social connection. The Shed also runs dedicated women’s sessions twice a week, further strengthening its role as a community hub.
Design work for the new facility is nearing completion, with construction expected to move ahead once the contract is awarded. Works are planned to begin shortly after, with further details to be confirmed as the project progresses.
This redevelopment is part of the broader Oxenford Park Master Plan and reflects growing recognition of the importance of Men’s Sheds in supporting community wellbeing and connection.
