$26,000 Boost for Ipswich Men’s Shed

The Ipswich Men’s Shed has received a grant of over $26,000 in the latest round of funding through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF)

The Men’s Shed has been using their shared love of hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, metal work and leather work to support the community and each other since 2012.

Ipswich Men’s Shed President Terry Carter was thrilled by the news: “The Members were thrilled to hear of the successful grant approval for the milling machine.” Terry went on to say that the new equipment will not only expand their skillset but also contribute to the overall health and wellbeing of Shed members. He went on to say, “Men’s Sheds provide a safe place for men to come and work shoulder to shoulder.”

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program and distributes approximately $60 million each year to not-for-profit community groups.

The GCBF funding helps these groups to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities.

For those Queensland not-for-profit organisations that missed out or would like to apply for a grant, round 120 is now open. You can apply for a grant of up to $35,000.  MP Jennifer Howard encourages community organisations to apply. “The Gambling Community Benefit fund is an amazing opportunity for local organisations to receive funding that directly helps our community”, she said.
