Laughter is Great Medicine
Of the dozens of character strengths a Shedder might possess, humour has been the number one signature strength for my entire life.
I have always enjoyed laughing with others, as well as good-natured teasing. Bringing a smile to another has been important for me. When I worked professionally, I took my various roles seriously, yet seeing the lighter side of situations and making jokes sensitively can be helpful, especially in the trying times.
Laughter draws people together and triggers healthy physical and emotional changes. It strengthens the immune system, elevates mood, diminishes pain, increases positivity, and protects from the damaging effects of anxiety and stress.
Laughter enhances the intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates the heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the feel-good neurotransmitters that are released in the brain.
Enjoy your Shed time, watch comedies, have fun with friends, tell jokes, look for the lighter side of life, and remember that laughter really is the best medicine!
